Students face unique challenges including living independently and managing new transitions in a new environment which can become overwhelming as can academic pressures and loneliness.

This project seeks to recruit students, whether in F.E or H.E, with lived experience of supporting peers with suicidal behaviours, resulting in further overwhelm. This session will address issues and inform on suicide awareness, active listening, managing boundaries, self-care, signposting, reflective practice skills and safety plans.

Our outcomes are that you will:
  • Help others feel seen, heard and listened to by their peers
  • Have an increased awareness and understanding of the risk factors associated with suicide and self-harm
  • Have increased confidence to talk about suicide and self-harm
  • Have increased self-awareness of your own mental health when supporting others
  • Have an increased understanding of reflective practice and it's importance for wellbeing
  • Have an understanding of active listening skills
  • Have increased confidence to implement personal boundaries when supporting others
  • Have increased awareness of pathways for support
  • Have increased knowledge of tools to support someone feeling suicidal through use of safety plans
This will be one half-day session (3 hours) with a choice of online or face-to-face to suit your needs. We look forward to working with you!
